Blood, sweat and tears

Question gentle reader:
Do you love your job?
Was I the only one excited to get back to work today?
Among how small a minority does this place me?
Let me tell you:
According to the definitive authority, (Oprah ), 85% of people dislike their jobs.
This makes me sad.
What accounts for this?
Why is it so hard for us to find meaningful work we enjoy?
Are we conditioned to take jobs for the wrong reasons?
Anyone??

  1. Good question!!

Is it because we believe we are supposed to dislike our job because it is a four letter word? (W-O-R-K)

  2. I assisted an elderly lady arrange a platter of assorted meats and delightful cheeses for her best friends 45th anniversary. A few weeks later, she mailed me a personal 'thank you' letter for giving her such close attention, when it wasn't necessary. It was then I realized I loved my job. Reason being *It was a feeling of appreciating and self fulfillment.

After selling the store, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. So, for three years I worked in the blue-collar industry being guided along by my friends. If there's one thing you know about factory work, it's PRODUCTION-PRODUCTION-break-coffee-PRODUCTION. Managers/supervisors could care less about individuals. Their view on a worker entails "If you can't work quick enough, we'll find another monkey off the street who can."
It's people of a higher hierarchy in the work force that pushes people to hate their jobs. As I learned in your leadership class, it's about motivation; leading with love vs. fear.
I have never truly found a job I loved other than working in the family business. Because I was happy helping people and felt appreciated on a daily basis.
If every person in the world was able to take your leadership class and learn the importance of EQ. Perhaps many others would enjoy their jobs.
